I began my career in private practice in Montgomery County and handled a variety of criminal and civil cases. My practice included appearing for indigent clients in criminal cases, as well as, representing clients in child custody, divorce and other civil cases. In January of 2019, I became a prosecutor in the 28th prosecutorial district under District Attorney T. Lynn Clodfelter, which consists of Stanly and Montgomery counties. In 2022 I was promoted to Chief Assistant District Attorney by Mr. Clodfelter. In this role, I supervise the prosecutors and staff in the office and manage day-to-day functions. As an assistant district attorney, I handle a variety of cases from theft to drug trafficking. Most importantly, I prosecute sexual assault crimes committed against children or adults in Stanly County. I routinely meet with victims and advocate on their behalf to seek justice in their cases.
My role in the District Attorney’s Office as a public servant has shown me the impact I can have on the community. I regularly work with law enforcement and the Butterfly House to pursue justice for victims and improve the safety of this county. I also serve on the Stanly Community College Foundation Board that helps provide educational and career training opportunities to SCC students. My work in the District Attorney’s Office has shown me the importance of public service and the support I can provide to citizens of this area. I sincerely enjoy serving my community and plan to continue to serve the citizens of Stanly and Montgomery counties in the future.
